Temporary library open in Beckenham

A temporary library is opening in Beckenham today, June 10, to provide residents services while the main library is being refurbished.

Locals in Beckenham can access library services at Lewis House, just a short two-minute walk from the main library.

This follows the recent closure and refurbishment of local libraries in the borough as part of Bromley Council’s £10m project to provide better sustainability and improved accessibility throughout the buildings.

A council spokesperson said: “It is important that these works are completed to continue to ensure services are provided to residents over the long term.”

Directions to the new library will be posted around the area.

The refurbished Beckenham Library is expected to reopen in early 2025 as part of a wider library repair programme.

In the meantime, residents across the borough will be able to access these temporary libraries for any services.
