Croydon Council starts new initiative to improve public health

Croydon Council has introduced a new service to encourage people to live healthier lives throughout the year.

The new Live Well Croydon service has advice to help residents live healthier lives while also potentially providing one-to-one support after filling out a health assessment form.

The Live Well Croydon service also provides information on monitoring drinking habits, drink free days, and how alcohol can affect someone’s mood.

Croydon executive mayor Jason Perry said: “There is lots of support in Croydon to help residents to lead a happy and healthier New Year.

“January is a time when lots of people focus on making positive lifestyle changes.

“Live Well Croydon and other local support services are available all year round, so you can start your journey to better health whenever it suits you best.”

Although the service is still relatively new, Croydon resident Aida successfully quit smoking with support from Live Well Croydon.

He said: “I’m surprised I quit. I smoked for 52 years, and I didn’t think I was going to do it, but with help from a Live Well Croydon adviser it was easy.

“She was so gentle and kind helping me think ahead one step at a time – she believed I could do it.”
