Penge Green Gym is a long-lasting initiative merging together conservation efforts and exercise.
The primary aim of the Bromley-based gym is to nurture the native wildlife in a tough urban environment while also involving the local community in their regeneration efforts.
In the process, volunteers are able to not only engage with wildlife and contribute to the renovation of the park but to also improve their physical and mental wellbeing.
Their efforts have been recognised by prominent conservation organisations such as the Green Flag Awards and Bromley in Bloom.
In 2019, they received the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service.
Check out the video above for more about the gym’s wide range of activities and for interviews with chair Brenda Little and first-time volunteer Rufus McNulty.
