WATCH: The orchestra that performs in multi-story car parks

Have you ever heard of the orchestra that plays their concerts in a multi-story car park?

Meet the Multi-Story Orchestra, who earlier this month played their show Verified at Bold Tendencies in Peckham.

Artistic director Kate Whitley and principal conductor Christopher Stark wanted to find new ways to play orchestral music that would escape formal concert halls and be more exciting.

This show tackled the difficulties of social media and the insatiable desire for attention and validation on the internet, and gave the chance to many pupils from across south London to play a part in the cultural experience of an orchestral concert.

The choir was made up of students from Harris Peckham, Spa School Camberwell & Bermondsey, Harris Girls East Dulwich, and Shirley Croydon.

Dupri Mckoy, a trainee at Multi-Story Orchestra, spoke of the great things the charity achieves through its young creatives scheme.

Artistic director Whitley added: “It feels like a family.

“It’s probably my favourite thing about it.”
