Charlton Athletic and University of Greenwich’s new community space for young fans

The University of Greenwich and Charlton Athletic FC have joined forces to create a community space for young fans.

The club and the university have worked together to set up a zone for fans between ages 16-20, where youngsters can enjoy the games with their age group.

The space will be in the Covered End West Quadrant of the stadium.

Charlton Athletic board member Sam White said: “It’s the perfect lifecycle for young fans – you may start in the family section, before wanting to have more independence and being able to sit on your own in the new section before graduating to the Covered End or other areas in the stadium.”

To help promote a welcoming environment at the Valley, Charlton Athletics’ community trust will be there on all matchdays.

The partnership aims to increase engagement from the club’s younger fans and helps drum up community support.

Executive director of marketing and external relations at the University of Greenwich said: “This is a brilliant opportunity for students and young fans to come together and enjoy the game.

“We are committed to creating an opportunity for inclusivity and supporting Charlton to ensure that everyone feels welcome at the Valley.”

The 16-20 Zone offers a wide range of benefits to young fans including exclusive events and giveaways, on top of a discounted Season Ticket price.

The University of Greenwich has also announced a season ticket giveaway with 10 up for grabs.

The competition is open to any eligible Greenwich student aged 16 to 20 years old and winners will receive a free Youth Stand Season Ticket, valued at £125.
